Basketball

Being a baller, I tend to play basketball a lot. The other day I was balling, and some other ballers challenged me and my baller bros to a game of full-court. FULL COURT. I suck at full court.

I can't dribble, so full-court makes me look like an even shitter dribbler. One of my favorite dribbling techniques is to get a rebound, then take a few steps and crouch down, protecting the ball. I'll try to pass it to a teammate, then it'll get stolen. That's how I work.

Since Michael Jordan's retirement basketball has seen its popularity decrease tremendously.  Too many teams overemphasize individual play at the expense of passing, running and taking shots in the flow of the offense.

So I watched the first slate of games the NBA served up on opening week and they were not too shabby. For the Celtics-Cavs it was as expected and predicted, whoever had the most points between Pierce and James won the game. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer picture says it all. We don’t even have to talk about foul shooting or lack of.

OMG, OMG, OMG!, We are just hours away from the start of the 2008-09 NBA season. There are parts of my body that are roused that are aberrant for a man, to behave in such a manner and I don’t even care that I have just told you that. I was going to put up my Sixth Man of the Year award, but I just can’t take all this excitement.

Even soccer's not as appreciated here.

Also, the PBA or the Philippines Basketball Association is the second oldest professional basketball league in the world, next to the NBA. This league has been one of the foundations of sports in the Philippines.

Can you smell that in the air? This is the best time of the year. It’s a smell of apples, wood and leather in the cold air of a New York fall. I love this time of year and I personally am trying to get cologne of those smells, but Karl Lagerfield is not retuning my calls. It is ok, it’s basketball season so I’m busy.

Last night, we lost another star to the pre-season. Antawn Jamison went down with a knee injury after playing only 4 mins. Which begs the question why do we need a pre-season anyway. Now the Washin

According to several blogs, including Baseball Digest Daily, Mark Teixeira is headed to the Angels, in exchange for middling 1B Casey Kotchman and minor-league pitcher Stephen Marek, with perhaps others thrown into the mix.

As I sit here and watch Johan shutout the Yankees for first three innings I wonder what it would be like for him to be in the road grey's. Sure it would be nice to have some one of his caliber as a member of the Yankees but I think his performance is season thus far has proven Brian Cashman correct. If the Yankees had traded Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, and Ian Kennedy for Johan Santanna, Yankee fans would be asking for more. I know Hughes and Kennedy have no wins this year but Hughes is only 20 years old and has great potential. He needs time to devlop. I am not sure what Kennedy turns into and I would have definetly been fine with trading him in a deal just not packaged with Hughes. It just wasnt fair for the Yankees to give up prospects and a huge contract.

The Detroit Pistons are now on their search for a new coach. Flip Saunders was released today.

“Decisions like this are difficult to make, especially with the success we have had throughout the last three regular seasons,” Dumars said in a statement. “However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change. “I thank Flip for his hard work and dedication, but it is time for a new voice to lead our team.” - Joe Dumars

Apparently the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns have agreed on a trade that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. I believe this is simply a knee-jerk reaction to the Los Angeles Lakers' acquisition of Pau Gasol (a brilliant move by L.A., by the way) and do not see how this trade can make sense from the Suns' vantage point.
